URL: /waiter/dashboard Access: After login, or click Dashboard in the waiter navigation. The Waiter Dashboard is your home screen — a quick overview of your current shift.

Layout

The Waiter layout has a bottom navigation bar (mobile) or a left sidebar (desktop) with these links:
  • Dashboard — Home overview
  • Tables — View and manage tables
  • Orders — View all orders
  • Place Order — Take a new order for a table

Overview cards

Date & Time display: Current date and time shown prominently in the top-right corner. Stats cards:

Waiter call alerts

If a guest at a table presses the Call Waiter button on their phone, a yellow alert banner instantly appears at the top of your dashboard:
🛎️ Table [X] is calling for a waiter — “I need assistance” [Time of request]
  • Click the button on the right to dismiss the alert once you’ve attended to the guest.
  • Multiple alerts can stack if several tables call at once.
Bill Overdue Alert: If a table has been waiting too long for their bill, a red alert appears:
Overdue Bill — Table [X] — waiting [N] minutes. Process payment immediately.
Click Go to Bills → to jump directly to the bills page.

Quick actions

Four large buttons for fast navigation:
  • 👨‍🍳 Kitchen View — See the kitchen order queue (with pending orders badge)
  • 🪑 Tables — View all active tables
  • 📝 All Orders — See all recent orders
  • 💰 Process Bills — Jump to bill processing

Active Tables panel

The left panel shows all currently occupied tables:
  • Table Number (bold)
  • Guest count (e.g. “3 guests”)
  • Current Total (in ETB)
  • ACTIVE badge
  • View button — Go to the table’s detail view
  • Bill button — Jump directly to billing for that table

Recent Orders panel

The right panel shows the last 10 orders with columns:
  • Order ID (short)
  • Table Number
  • Amount (ETB)
  • Status badge (color-coded)
  • View button — See order details
  • Start Prep button — Appears for PENDING orders; click to move to PREPARING
